While happy for Secondstory Rep, and sad for the loss of Empty Space, I remain convinced that the non-profit business model most theaters live by is the death of Theater. Most of the things you rage against in your blog are a direct result of our theaters being chained to a destructive business model.

I was wondering when you were going to join the fray.
We need to drill down in the next few months on this issue of business models. I suspect there’s truth in what you say about the non-profit model being essentially bereft. But I don’t want to let you go all Ayn Rand on us by being expert in identifying the problem and vague and science fictiony sky-pie with any solutions you offer.
If we’re going to find an alternative, let’s make it an implementable one.
So maybe a co-post in a few months on business models, yes? And maybe folks can offer their suggestions here?
